Panel Discussion: The growing importance of advanced technologies to enhance the passenger experience

Birte Jürgensen is the founder, director and partner of zweigrad Design. Based on her work in interior design at Volkswagen AG, she founded her company in 2002, which she still manages today with two other partners. She perceives technological developments and social trends as impetus for new strategies and visions. With her expertise as an industrial designer and mechanical engineer and her experience from twenty years of management, she develops precisely these and is responsible for zweigrad’s corporate development.

Birte Jürgensen has been an awards jury member several times, has experience as a substitute professor, is a member of Hamburg Aviation as well as a member of the advisory board of Hamburg Investment and Development Bank (IFB). Her work has received various awards.

Eduardo de la Guerra is a senior engineer and project manager specializing in industrial innovation and advanced manufacturing technologies. He currently serves as Head of Innovation Projects at Talgo , where he leads multidisciplinary teams in the development and implementation of cutting-edge solutions for railway.

With a strong background in materials science and mechanical engineering, Eduardo has extensive experience in additive manufacturing processes, surface engineering, new materials and railway systems. He has coordinated and contributed to several European research projects focused on sustainable manufacturing, digital transformation, and the integration of emerging technologies in industrial environments.

Eduardo is actively involved in technology transfer initiatives and has collaborated with research centers, universities, and industrial partners to bridge the gap between scientific research and practical application. His work has been presented at international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals.

In her role, Caterina is leading the definition and implementation of interior equipment and design to enhance customer experience and drive FlixTrain's growth in multiple train projects. She also manages innovation projects focused on product and process improvements, addressing both customer-facing areas and internal challenges such as maintenance and organizational pain points.
