Simon Bildstein-Depaoli is a Design Director at Nose Design Experience in Zurich, one of Europe’s leading specialists in railway experience design. With long-standing partnerships and several hundred full-train design projects for operators, manufacturers, and suppliers, Nose brings unique expertise and a holistic yet technically grounded approach to the industry. The studio has redefined design and innovation in the rail sector through acclaimed projects such as the SBB Giruno, the SOB Traverso, the Mälab Dosto (all by Stadler), and the luxurious Excellence Class interior of the Glacier Express.
Simon holds a Master’s degree in Transportation and Industrial Design from UAS Graz and was recognized during his studies with a Red Dot Design Award and the DesignConcepts Award from Austria’s National Design Prize (Staatspreis für Design). He has been with Nose for over eight years and has led major projects including the ICE design developments for Deutsche Bahn Fernverkehr, as well as multiple tender design projects for Stadler, such as FLIRT and KISS trains for Slovenia’s SZ, FLIRT trains for Italy’s FNM, trams for Milan’s ATM, and FLIRT units for Finland’s VR. He also contributed to the exterior design of flagship trains including the Talgo ICE L, the ÖBB Railjet KISS by Stadler, and Stadler’s Eurodual locomotive.
